Notes and Hints
Forcing Peaches
Maintain a low temperature rather than a high one. The soil to be moist well below the roots with clean water
Liquid manure not to be used at this time. Ventilators to be shut and let the sun warm the house rather than much fire heat. fire heat at night and in dull, cold weather. Syringing not to be done in cold and frosty weather. The night temperature for the first 2 wks should range a little more than 50o
Vines
Vines need rest in the Winter. They must be scraped, scrubbed and painted. Parraffin and a little soft soap mixed with very hot water is one good mixture for cleaning Vines
Vines will start into growth in 60o of heat. The borders got to be well watered
Sun heat is very beneficial to Vines in winter. A little syringing may be done to help break the buds.
A slightly dry atmosphere at night is better than a humid one
In dull weather little damping or syringing is needed.
It takes 5 to 6 months from the time the Vines are started until the fruit is ready. Vines started in trhe New Year should have fruit ready for cutting at the end of May or early in June
